FAQ's
- When did LA begin? LA began in 1997 with
one class each of K-3 and a multi-aged 4th/5th. In March 2001, LA purchased
the present site which LA currently occupies. The seven-classroom addition
was completed and occupied in October 2001. A 7th grade was added in August 05 and an 8th grade was added in August 2006.
- What are some highlights of the Lincoln Academy program? Whole
group instruction, Core Knowledge Sequence®, Saxon Math, self-contained
classrooms, phonics based reading program and required homework.
- What is the class size? Classes run between
26 and 29 students with one teacher and one educational assistant. Most
classes contain 27 or 28 students.
- Are the classes or grades mixed? LA has
no multi-aged classes and no plans for the future.
- What makes LA a better choice? LA is only
a "better" choice
if you understand and support the philosophical direction of the program.
LA presents the Core Knowledge Sequence® in a back-to-basics
format (strong teacher direction) and emphasizes strong discipline
in the classroom and school.
