Welcome to 1st Grade!


  • Core Knowledge

    • Our current Core Knowlege unit is Oceans. This test will be Thursday, May 4.
    • Please be sure to review the study and maps for this unit.
    • We will also be celebrating a Beach Day on Friday, May 5. Please CLICK HERE to see information for this day!


    • Third trimester midterm grades will be coming home today in Monday folders. Please review these, sign, and return them to your child's teacher.
    • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher. 

    Race to Read

    • This week kicks off the first week of Race to Read. This reading program will run until May 12. 
    • Students have bring green packets coming home explaining the program and the reading requirements for each sheet.
    • Please turn in colored sheets as your child completes the 4 hours of reading. Be sure to sign them and include your child's name and teacher name.
    • These sheets will take the place of reading logs for the next five weeks.
    • The additional sheets (#3, #4) are listed below for you to print when needed. If your child gets to sheet #5 they can just choose one of the previous sheets to print and color again.

    Poetry and Prose

    • The poetry and Prose celebration will be this Wednesday, April 26 at 1:45 PM. Please join us in the gym if you'd like to attend this celebration! 

    Zoo Field Trip

    • Our final field trip to the zoo is coming up on May 12. 
    • Be sure to sign and return permission slips with money ASAP.
    • Please check the box at the bottom if you want your child to receive hot lunch on this day and mark at the top if you'd like to be considered for a chaperone spot. 
    • Chaperones need to be at school no later than 8:45 on this day, and bring a backpack to help carry lunches. 
    • If you would like to pay your own way and join us at the zoo, please contact let your child's teacher. 

    Field Day 

    • Field day is May 19th. First grade needs a total of 7 group leaders. Group leaders need to be able to follow a printed schedule and concentrate on supervising 10 students for several hours.  Group leaders are what make field day work so please consider helping if possible.  Need more information to know if you can volunteer?  See below...
      K-2 Field Day = 8:30-11:45  (Group leaders will need to report by 8am and should be available until 12pm)
      3-5 Field Day = 12-2:45 (Group leaders will need to report by 11:30am and should be available until 3pm)
      Please CLICK HERE to sign up for one of the 7 available spots per grade.  Please make sure to put volunteer's first and last name followed by the student you are there for. This is a live google document so please do not modify anyone else's information.

    • The volunteerspot link is now live for anyone who wants to help with field day but didn't get a chance to sign up as a group leader.    CLICK HERE to access the link. Remind you don't need a password to sign up but you WILL have to enter your email address.  There is plenty of need and a great way to fill those remaining volunteer hours. 
    •  If you are interested in coming and joining onto a group, please contact  your child's teacher. We love the extra help! 
    • Also be sure to signed the field day form (both front and back) that is coming home in today's Monday folders. These are due by this Friday, April 28.
