Summer reading

  1. HOT LUNCH VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR NEEDED: The PTO is looking for a person or persons to coordinate hot lunch volunteers for next school year. We would like to thank Jennifer Sujansky for doing this job for us for the past few years. This position involves finding volunteers, orienting them to what needs to be done during the service of lunch and some stocking and organizing of hot lunch supplies in the Lincoln Academy kitchen. If you are interested or would like more information, contact the PTO at lapto@comcast.net or speak to one of the PTO Board members.
  2. MIDDLE SCHOOL AWARDS: There will be an awards assembly for 6th and 7th graders on Thursday, May 22 at 12:45 p.m. in the gym. 8th grade awards will be given out at continuation.
  3. SPRING CLEANING? DONATE YOUR STUFF: Middle school Girl Scouts will be hosting the annual garage sale at Lincoln Academy on May 23 and 24. Please help us raise funds for our 8th grade trip by donating items for this event. Donations may be dropped off in the gym at Lincoln on Thursday, May 22, AFTER 12 NOON through 6:00 p.m. or bring items by on Friday and check out the garage sale while you are there! Please do not bring any donations before that date or time as we have no place to store items. For questions, contact Laurie Rozendaal, scolau@aol.com or 303-429-5031.
  4. LINCOLN COUNTY FAIR: Tonight’s the night! Hope to see y’all at the fair.
  5. FIELD DAY INFORMATION: It’s almost here and we are still in need of afternoon volunteers to help out on Tuesday, May 20 starting at 11:30 a.m. If you can help out with this opportunity please contact Beth Gravelle as soon as possible via email at ealfonso@jeffco.k12.co.us or phone 303-467-5363 x282. We are also in need of volunteers to help set up and break down the field day activities. Set up time will be from 6:30 – 8:00 a.m. and break down will be from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
  6. MIDDLE SCHOOL BRICKS: Do you have an 8th grader graduating from Lincoln Academy on the 21st? How about having a brick inscribed with their name for a graduation gift? The donor brick program is a fundraiser for the middle school. Anyone can have a brick inscribed with his or her family name or other wording and placed in the pavement in front of the middle school building. Bricks are available for $50, $100, and $200 for individual sponsors or $500 for corporate sponsors. Order forms can be picked up by the front office. If you have questions, please speak with Kristi Geisz.
  7. WELCOME COMMITTEE: The PTO is looking for volunteers to serve on the Welcoming Committee for next fall. This committee makes phone calls to new families and also puts together a light breakfast on the playground for new families on the first day of school. The committee meets once or twice during the summer. Please contact the PTO at lapto@comcast.net or speak to a PTO Board member if you would like to help our new families feel welcome.
  8. HARVEST FESTIVAL: The PTO would like to put together a group of parents to begin plans for an entry in Arvada’s Harvest Festival Parade next fall. The parade is scheduled to be on Saturday, September 6. Having an entry in the parade is an excellent way to advertise our school and show our school spirit! If you would like to participate in this activity, please contact the PTO at lapto@comcast.net or speak to a member of the PTO Board.
  9. LOST AND FOUND: All items from the lost and found will be outside today and the last day of school. Then it will all be taken and donated. If you are missing items in the past few weeks, please check on these days. Also a camera lens was found after the kindergarten program last week and a Sony Clie organizer. Please claim in the office.
  10. VOLUNTEER THANK YOU FROM YOUR PTO AND COORDINATORS OF STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK 2008: Congratulations and a tremendous Thank You are in order for all the volunteers who helped make this year’s Staff Appreciation Week “one of the best ever!” All your help and donations were greatly appreciated. Give yourselves a much deserved “pat on the back”! We had 100% participation from every volunteer who signed up throughout the week. Everything that was donated added up to a great week for the staff! Thank you!
  11. INTEREST IN THE BOARD: Would the parent mom that spoke with Eric Stenzel about being on the board, please call Eric at 303-550-3316 or 303-431-4102.
  12. EDUKITS ARE BACK: PTO is again offering Edukits for the 2008-2009 school year. As in the past these kits contain the majority of school supplies your child will need for the upcoming school year. The Edukits are priced to include home delivery as they will not be handed out at back to school night. The PTO will have a limited supply of kits at back to school night but they will be gone fast so order now. Orders will be accepted until June 2. If you do not receive an order form in upcoming Monday folders you can simply go to the web address and place your order at www.edukitinc.com/page.asp?id=15&schooled=508.
  13. VOLUNTEER HOURS: Please take time to update your volunteer hours as the final tabulation will take place after Tuesday, May 20. We are aware that several large volunteer commitments will be during this time so try to accurately estimate the time you will spend even though the events have not taken place. Thank you for all your hard work this year, LAPTO.
  14. PIZZA PALS: PTO still has 5 Old Chicago Pizza Coupons. Help us get these all sold before the end of the school year. All proceeds go towards the D.C. Scholarship Program for a graduating senior that attended Lincoln Academy and is planning to go on to college.
