The Annual PTO Pledge Drive!

Dear Lincoln Academy Families,

As Lincoln Academy continues to provide an education comparable with or better than a private school or a neighborhood school, Lincoln Academy’s PTO is looking for your help with this year’s 2009-2010 Annual Pledge Drive.  Unlike neighborhood schools, Charter Schools must purchase and maintain their own facilities.  At Lincoln, this means 10-15% of the yearly school budget is then unavailable for other uses.   Our primary goal is to provide financial support for academic programs, school services and activities that the school is unable to fund.  Each year, Lincoln also asks the PTO for additional funding for items that the school needs but cannot purchase on their own.  In the past, the PTO has paid for or helped to pay for new computers in the Elementary Tech Lab, the playground shade pavilion, updating the kitchen, a new floor in the art room, keyboards for the music room, library furniture and shelving and more!  Items like this, is what the Pledge Drive supports.

Why participate in the Pledge Drive?  Lincoln Academy community has opted to avoid the hassle of selling candy, wrapping paper, candles, raffles tickets, etc. to friends and family.  Fundraising companies frequently retain 35-50% of the profits.  Lincoln Academy retains 100% of the donation and the Pledge Drive is more time efficient.

What will my pledge donation be used for this year?

Welcome Committee     -    $50 Children’s chorale & Assemblies   -  $1,045
Classroom enrichment      -  $3,565 Library Improvement Expense     -  $320
Fall & Spring Events      -    $200 Reading Emphasis Week     -   $300
Staff appreciation     -   $1,260 8th Grade Continuation      -   $1,000
Grandparents’ day     -    $500 Art Show     -    $150

These are just a few of the items LAPTO sponsors annually.

To maintain these valuable programs, we need your help.  We need to raise at least $10,000 with this year’s Pledge Drive, in order to conduct the annual events that we have all come to expect and enjoy from our school community.    This year, our goal is a donation of $60/student or $150/family of three students or more. We realize that higher prices on gas, food and just about everything, has forced us all to cut back on spending, but any donation, no matter how large or small, will benefit all of our students and is greatly appreciated. We would love to have 100% participation!

Your employer may match your donation, so please inquire about this as well.  As a non-profit organization, donations will be tax-deductible.   Please take a moment now to complete your 2009-2010 Lincoln Academy Pledge Form and drop it off at the Lincoln Academy’s school office.

Every family who returns a Pledge Form (Regardless of pledge amount, payment time frame, or inability to pledge this year), to the school office NO LATER THAN  NOVEMBER 13th  will have their family name placed in a hat and randomly chosen for prizes at the November 17th  LAPTO monthly meeting.
