Our Leadership
Principal- Paul Hurst
I am thrilled to serve as the Principal of Lincoln Academy, a role that allows me to work alongside a dedicated community focused on delivering the best education possible to every student. Originally from South Carolina and raised in Ohio, I’ve called Colorado home for nearly 15 years, which has broadened my sports loyalties and deepened my appreciation for the state’s natural beauty.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Clearwater Christian College. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in both public and charter schools as a tutor, soccer and basketball coach, and classroom teacher. My journey in educational leadership began in 2014 when I served as a Behavioral/Instructional Coach, providing crucial support to students and staff. I later became the Vice Principal for grades K-3, a role where I was fortunate to support staff and contribute to various school functions.
In 2022, I joined Lincoln Academy as Principal, a decision that has been both rewarding and inspiring. My wife, who is an instructional coach at the district level in Weld County, and I are proud parents of two daughters, Ellorie and Claire, who are also part of the Lincoln Academy family. We live in Brighton, where we enjoy the outdoors through running, hiking, camping, and fishing—activities that help us appreciate the beauty of Colorado’s mountains.
I am deeply committed to the vision of Lincoln Academy and believe in the unlimited potential of our students and staff. Together, we are on an incredible journey, and I am grateful to be a part of it.
Assistant Principal- Mrs. Frick
My name is Heather Frick, and I am a Colorado native, and grew up in the Arvada area. I have been in education for the past 18 years, holding various roles in both general and special education across all K-12 grade levels. I currently hold a Masters degree in Special Education and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. I started my educational career in online education as a Social Studies teacher, later transitioning into a Special Education position as a Student Services Coordinator. Upon entering Jeffco, I served as a Significant Support Needs teacher before assuming the role of a Learning Specialist.
On a personal note, I'm a proud mother of two sons who share a passion for basketball and lacrosse, keeping our weekends occupied on the sports fields. My husband and I celebrate 17 years of marriage, and our family recently welcomed a Shepard puppy named Tucker into our lives. We're avid travelers, striving to explore as many states as possible.
Professionally, I firmly believe in the potential of every student to excel and thrive academically. I advocate passionately for fostering an inclusive school environment where every student feels valued. My commitment extends to nurturing the holistic development of each child, supporting their academic growth as well as their mental well-being. I am eager to contribute to the success of both teachers and students at Lincoln Academy in the upcoming school year.
Assistant Principal- Dr. Legueri
Dr. Legueri was born and raised in Denver, attending The Denver Waldorf School from preschool to 12th grade. From a young age she loved school and dreamed of becoming a teacher, just like her hero, Anne of Green Gables! Her earliest teaching experience was in high school, instructing 4-6 year olds at her Tae Kwon Do studio. She attended Grinnell College in Iowa for its mission to educate students who could “change the world,” majoring in Political Science with the plan to take her passion and skills to the non-profit or governmental realms. Upon graduation, however, she realized that she lacked a deep knowledge of the origins of the current political and social situation. Thus she pursued a graduate degree in the Great Books from St. John’s College in New Mexico. While at St. John’s, she learned that she wanted to change the world not through participation in government, but through education. To complete her studies of the roots of political philosophy, she enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Dallas. She finished her coursework early to re-engage with the community, feeling the need to leave the quiet rooms of the library and serve others again. She took a job at a charter school in Arizona, where she taught 6th graders US History and Latin, and 9th and 10th graders Literature and European History. When she and her husband married, they moved home to Colorado to raise their children near grandparents. There she began her career at Golden View Classical Academy, teaching a wide variety of classes to 5th through 11th graders–Composition, Rhetoric, History, Literature, Philosophy, and even a course in Home Economics. Three years ago she took on the role of the Dean of Upper School, working closely with teachers on their pedagogy and improving student’s academic outcomes. In addition to working in the classroom and with teachers, Dr. Legueri started the volleyball program and Ambassador Program. She is thrilled to join Lincoln Academy as an Assistant Principal, bringing her passion for content-rich education to your thriving and wonderfully friendly community. When she isn’t at school, you can find her exploring Colorado with her family (husband Kane, kids Benji (7) and William (5)), working on a new knitting project, or getting lost in a good book.
Operations Director- Mrs. Woods
Hello! My name is Lori Woods and I serve Lincoln Academy as the Operations Director. With an aerospace engineering degree from CU Boulder (Sko Buffs!), I began my career at Lockheed Martin supporting the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and later, both the F-16 and the F-35 airframe teams. Through this work, I developed a strong background in design, project integration and management, while growing a keen understanding of effective team leadership.
As a parent at Lincoln, I quickly fell in love with the amazing teaching teams who were greatly impacting my sons’ lives. In hopes of supporting them, I became progressively more involved in volunteer activities varying from leading reading groups, providing math and science tutoring, to PTO leadership as well as joining the Board of Directors as Facilities Chair and VP. As Operations Director, I continue to manage various school construction projects and oversee the operational side of the school in the areas of city and district relations, budgeting and finance, HR, technology and facilities.
I have a heart and passion for the community of Lincoln and hope to support the continued improvement of staff and student culture by “running the business” of the school so others can remain hyper-focused on student achievement, emotional support and engagement.
My husband and I have two Lincoln graduates as well as a middle schooler who have all been so well supported by the loving and committed staff of Lincoln. I truly believe we have a loyal team deeply invested in student success. Outside of school, our lives are chalked full of competitive sports, dog walks and backyard BBQs. It is my great honor to serve the Lincoln community and to be the mom of 3 crazy boys and their pups!
