Feb 2026 Meeting Highlights
The Board of Directors would like to share some highlights from the February meeting:
1. Open Enrollment Update: The Board received an update on open enrollment showing positive trends that fully support current budget forecasts. While Jeffco continues to report a downward trend in enrollment since 2022, this year, Lincoln applications are slightly higher than in recent years. This is a positive sign that we believe reflects continued marketing efforts and the strong reputation in the local community. Stay tuned for additional updates planned for the March Board meeting.
2. Proposed School Calendar: The draft 2026-2027 calendar has been posted online with a board vote at the March 31st BoD meeting. Board appreciates the efforts of school leadership to continue to incorporate feedback from staff and families. The proposed calendar aligns with Jeffco’s major breaks, starts the school year on a Thursday, ends the school year before Memorial Day, and incorporates supporting staff with additional professional development days.
3. Board of Directors Classroom Visits: Mr. Hurst established a schedule for Board of Directors to visit a number of classrooms, mostly during English Language Arts instruction. We saw a variety of lessons from literacy basics and content summarization, to citing evidence, cause and effect in literature, character motivation, and the importance of tone. It was a joy to observe teachers in their element and see students engaged in lessons. Classroom environments were calm and conducive to learning while also generating an energy of excitement. We appreciated this window into the heart of Lincoln.
4. Thank You to Staff: The Board would like to recognize and thank staff for their efforts during the power outages resulting in early release. Staff members from across campus jumped in to fill a variety of roles and worked together to make the process as streamlined as possible for families. Thank you!
