The Board of Directors would like to share some highlights from the January meeting:

  1. Winter MAP Data: December assessments show very strong performance in English Language Arts (ELA) as well as above average scores in all grades for math. Congratulations to teachers and students for their hard work! (In the tables below, above national average MAP scores are defined as greater than 50)

Along with celebration, Mr. Hurst shared action plans to continue to increase scores and better support staff and students in areas of need. This is a focus for the administration, Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), and staff with goals for continued improvement in spring performance.

For more details, please see the Executive Directors’ Report here.

Board continues to monitor MAP performance as these scores are one of the measures used in our Strategic Plan to address the pilar of Academic Excellence. The current plan can be found here.

  2. Student Discipline: Mr. Hurst presented an overview of mid-year discipline data highlighting the triangle chart below, which shows that at the schoolwide level, 97% of our students have received zero or one referral this year. This is exceptional and we commend leadership and staff for this achievement.
For this data, a referral is defined as a formal request by a staff member for administrative intervention in a behavioral concern. Mr. Hurst also highlighted some of the ongoing efforts to continue to address remaining classroom disruptions and ensure that we’re offering the best learning environments possible. Teachers have been asked to support this effort by regularly document behavioral concerns to support data-informed decision-making. It was shared that Lincoln has consistently seen that when parents are actively supporting their students, classroom disruptions are minimized, and students can do the hard work of learning. For more details, please see the Executive Director’s Report here.

  3. SAC Updates: The SAC Family Survey questions have been approved and are open for responses through February 27th, so be sure to your thoughts! Completing the survey earns a homework pass for each of your students and a chance to win a $50 gift card.

We are also thrilled to announce that our SAC chair, Ashley Reynolds, has been accepted onto the District Accountability Committee (DAC). We are proud to have a Lincoln parent on this committee and grateful for a charter advocate volunteering to serve in this role. Not only will she provide general input, but she will also play a critical role in supporting the review of the district’s yearly charter renewal applications by contributing her knowledge and experience as a charter parent. Congratulations, and thank you, Ashley!

  4. Become a Charter School Advocate: We just celebrated School of Choice week, which is especially meaningful here at Lincoln Academy. As a charter, Lincoln is not a default neighborhood school and the only way to enroll is by choice!

Please join us in advocating for our school, and other charters, by maintaining awareness of legislation and visiting the Colorado League of Charter Schools advocacy page to learn more.

  5. 72nd Ave: There have been significant changes to the plan for the 72nd Ave project. To learn more, see page 18 of the Executive Directors’ Report.

  6. Staff Shoutouts: Our thanks go out to Amy Parrott, Lily Castro, and Jeanne Papantonakis who were recognized for their many contributions to Lincoln! For more details, please see the Executive Directors’ Report .
