Sept Meeting Highlights

LA logo

The Board of Directors would like to share the following highlights from our September meeting:

Strategic Plan: In partnership with school leadership, the Board of Directors has approved a new strategic plan for 2025–2028. After thoughtful discussion, we identified five key pillars that will guide our work over the next three years. Each pillar has its own objectives and measurable goals, along with a vision statement that describes the ideal future state we’re striving toward.

  • Student Life and Culture
  • Staff Experience and Growth
  • Academic Excellence
  • Resource Stewardship
  • Board Governance

We encourage families and staff to take a look and see where our big-picture focus will be in the years ahead. The full document can be found here (under Board of Directors, Governing Documents).

CMAS and SPF Results: The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessment is one of the standardized state tests administered for grades 3-8 each spring.

Math: LA outperformed the district by a small margin, with the strongest CMAS performance we’ve seen since 2017 and positive trends in achievement across nearly every grade level. While growth scores were lower than desired, there is a plan in place to strengthen progress moving forward including in-depth test data analysis to inform and drive improvement efforts. Encouragingly, the data suggests our new Reveal curriculum is already having a positive impact on student performance that is expected to continue.

ELA: Lincoln Academy continues to demonstrate high overall achievement and steady growth in English Language Arts. We’re proud that LA continues to significantly outperform both the district and the state in both achievement and growth.

School Performance Framework (SPF): CMAS scores, in both achievement and growth, contribute to the overall SPF rating, which is publicly available and helps families understand how local schools are performing. This year, Lincoln Academy earned its second-highest SPF score we have received, and we are excited to see this positive trend grow in the future.

We continue to encourage students to participate in CMAS. These assessments not only help guide future instruction, but they also contribute to measuring student achievement and growth, while providing an important district and state-level benchmark of school performance.

For more information, you can view the CMAS/SPF sections of the Sept 23rd meeting reports under the Executive Directors section.

Legislative Update: During the August Colorado Special Legislative Session, the budget gap was discussed along with corrective measures. We’re pleased that K-12 funding was not reduced in this session. Lincoln continues to keep a conservative financial forecast to hedge against future challenges.

Board Membership: We’re looking for a new Treasurer and Facilities Committee Chair for the 2026-2027 school year. If you have a background in finances, business budgeting, engineering, project management, or construction, we’d love to hear from you!   Board contact info here

*Please note*: In order to run for the Board of Directors in the spring election, we ask that you participate in a related committee the year prior, so now’s the time to jump in!

Arvada Harvest Parade: Huge thanks to our 3rd grade team and the Williams-Jensen family for the organization and prep work needed for Lincoln to participate in this year’s parade. It was a fantastic community event where families and staff had a wonderful time connecting while spreading the word that Lincoln is an amazing school. Be sure to join us next year!

Staff Highlights: Thanks to Calee Schrock, Leslie Taylor, and Krystal Jones for their many contributions to Lincoln! Check out the Sept 23rd meeting reports to see details of the shoutouts included in this month’s Executive Director report!
