Marissa Swift
Masters Degree, Elementary Education, Ohio State University
Welcome to 6th Grade Language Arts! I love teaching 6th-grade English Language Arts here at Lincoln Academy! The 2024 - 2025 school year will be my 16th year of teaching and my 4th year at Lincoln Academy. I am a teacher and a parent at Lincoln because I enjoy the community. I have lived and taught in Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee, and Colorado.
I attended college at The Ohio State University. Go Bucks! At O.S.U., I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development with a Minor in Education and a Masters in Elementary Education. I truly believe that learning is a lifelong process! I continue to take classes and read to further my understanding of the best and current instructional practices.
I am so excited to empower your children to be recognized and advocate for their right and obligation to obtain a quality education. This year will be filled with thought-provoking units that require students to critically read, write, think, and discuss the world around them. Our rich Core Knowledge curriculum will support me in doing this. I look forward to getting to know the 6th graders this year. Thank you for partnering with me this year as we learn and grow together!

Jane Lawlor
Hello! My name is Jane Lawlor and I am the new 6th grade science teacher. Although this is my first year at Lincoln Academy, I have been a middle school science teacher for 20 years. I am originally from North Carolina, but have lived in beautiful Colorado for about 26 years. I have a great passion for the outdoors and enjoy hiking, camping, biking and snowboarding. I also enjoy gardening, baking and reading in my spare time.
While living in North Carolina, I gained a degree in Biochemistry from NC State University. After moving to Colorado, I obtained my Secondary Science Teaching Endorsement from the University of Colorado in Boulder. I now also have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Environmental focus from Concordia University.
I initially became a teacher because I wanted to share my passion for science with others. Learning science concepts helps students better understand the world in which they live and promotes a greater appreciation of nature. I believe students learn best by participating in hands-on, inquiry based activities connected to real world problems. These activities also help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that can be applied to other life situations. Scientific inquiry involves stating claims based on evidence and reasoning, which includes analyzing and interpreting data. Students also develop important communication skills as they work in groups and participate in class discussions.
I believe students learn best when they are part of a positive, kind, caring and supportive community. This year we will focus on specific procedures and routines that promote Lincoln Academy’s core values of kindness, hard work and excellence.
I am so excited to begin the school year and start our journey together!

Taegen Haller
Welcome to 6th grade math! This school year will be my 10th year here at Lincoln. This will be my 2nd year teaching 6th grade math. I was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado. I attended Metropolitan State College of Denver and received a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in Elementary Education. I love Lincoln Academy and the community. My daughter is a freshman this year and attended Lincoln from kindergarten through 8th grade. I also have a 6th grade son who started here at Lincoln in preschool. We are an active Colorado family and enjoying camping, hiking, skiing and lots of basketball. Additionally, this will be my 9th year coaching the girls' basketball team and my 3rd year coaching the girls' volleyball team.
I believe in the importance of a rigorous math curriculum that focuses on conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. I strive to create a classroom space where all students feel safe and cared for. I am so excited to begin another school year!

I am thrilled to be part of the 5th-6th grade program at Lincoln Academy! This will be my 15th year teaching, and my 8th year at Lincoln. I was born and raised in Kentucky, then attended college at Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee. After college, I moved to Colorado, and I hope to never leave! I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, playing with my dog, fishing, and just being outdoors. When the weather doesn't cooperate, I can be found reading or watching sports. It is my mission for every student to leave my classroom knowing that they are unique, valuable, and loved. I am so excited to begin another school year!
