I am excited to start my 20th year at Lincoln and my 25th year teaching Art. After starting my teaching career in St. Louis, I moved to Colorado to complete my master’s degree in education at Regis University. I enjoy teaching all grade levels and still find that I am learning from the students daily. When I’m not teaching, I love to travel, SUP, bake, spend time with my crazy puppy and, of course, create artwork of my own.

I am thrilled to return for another year at Lincoln Academy as one of the art teachers! Having earned my bachelor’s degree in art education from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, I am eager to inspire our students artistic expression. My goal is to cultivate creativity in the classroom, a skill that will benefit our students far beyond the art room. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can feel like they are an artist. While I love all different types of art making, I find myself drawn to ceramics, video, and installation art in my own practice. Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time gardening, traveling, reading, and going on adventures with my family.

Masters Degree, Library Science
Hello! This will be my 22nd year at the Lincoln Library. I was a parent at Lincoln for 12 years. Before Lincoln, I previously worked in Jefferson County, teaching Elementary School, Reading, and substituting. I am the mother of two boys, both are graduates from CSU, one in Horticulture and one in Biology. Both went to Lincoln Kindergarten through 8th grade. I am also the "mother" to Blue the dog and Penelope the cat. I am married to Jeff. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking, being in the mountains and hanging out with my family. My goal at Lincoln is to foster a lifelong love of reading in our students.

Maria Tersigni
Hi! My name is Maria Tersigni, and I am so excited to be joining the Lincoln team! This will be my second year teaching physical education. I graduated in 2023 from Metro with a Bachelor of Science in K-12 physical education and went right into teaching. I am so excited to continue my education and such a great community. I truly enjoy being able to give kids the benefit that physical education can bring them every day.
I am a mom to a beautiful nine-month-old baby who is my pride and joy! I am a Colorado native, born and raised. My family has grown up in Arvada since my grandma moved here from New York. I have been raised in a family of educators, so it was natural for me to want to work with kids. I love to enjoy the outdoors with my daughter and explore as many places as I can with her. My favorite places to go outside are El Dorado Canyon, Laverne in Lyons, Estes Park, and Golden.
I cannot wait to get to know the Lincoln community this school year and build so many amazing relationships! Go Leopards!

Elementary Technology
General Information
In the tech lab, students engage in essential 21st-century skills, including digital citizenship, typing, basic computer knowledge, and introductory programming. Learning to type is a lifelong skill that supports effective communication, while understanding online safety is crucial as students increasingly learn, work, and interact in digital spaces. They must also develop the ability to evaluate online information.
Headphone Policy
Headphone Policy:
Students are required to keep a pair of headphones in the tech lab for regular use. If a student's headphones stop working during the year, they should be taken home for prompt replacement. Loaner headphones are available in the classroom if needed. For families who may require assistance in providing headphones, please reach out to Miss Kil to arrange a long-term loaner option.
Please note that headphones are not sent home over the summer or during school breaks. If you are leaving Lincoln Academy, please inform Miss Kil as soon as possible so the headphones can be returned. If you need to take your headphones home over a break, please contact Miss Kil at emily.kil@jeffco.k12.co.us , and the headphones will be sent home with the student. Please ensure that the headphones are brought back to school.
*Headphones should be wired and fit a 3.5 millimeter, standard, headphone jack. Wired earbuds are acceptable if your child is comfortable using earbuds.

I'm excited to begin my sixth year at Lincoln Academy and my 20th year as an educator. Over the past 14 years, I've taught various grade levels in the classroom, and for the last five years, I’ve focused on teaching technology here at Lincoln. I’m passionate about integrating technology to enhance students’ learning experiences, and I’m especially eager for the time they will spend in the Computer Lab this year. Students will strengthen their computer skills, including typing and basic programming, while also exploring how computers work. Across all grade levels, we will emphasize the importance of online safety and responsibility. The Computer Lab is a dynamic space where students will work hard, solve problems, learn from mistakes, and collaborate with their peers. These skills will serve them well both in their academic journeys and in the future.
