What's Happening in Kindergarten

     Welcome to Kindergarten!

    Thanksgiving Feast: Friday, November 16

Kindergarten will be having a Thanksgiving Feast to celebrate the end of our Pilgrim Unit.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the feast, please email your child's teacher.  For the list of foods being served and to volunteer to bring an item, please see link below.  Please let your child's teacher know if your child should not eat a specific food.  Thank you!

Field Trip to the Denver Center of Performing Arts - Corduroy

Half Day Kindergarten will be going on this field trip on Tuesday, November 27.  We will leave school at 9:15 and return around 11:30.  Please note that dismissal will be about ten minutes late on this day.

Full Day will be attending this field trip on, Friday, December 7.

Each Kindergarten class is allowed two chaperones.  If you would like your name to be in the drawing, please check the chaperone box on the permission slip.

We thought it would be fun to have the kindergartners dress nice for this field trip.

If you have not turned in your child's permission slip and payment, please do so asap.  Thank you!

     Cold Weather

Winter weather is upon us! Per Lincoln Academy policy, students go out to recess until the temperature reaches below 22 degrees. PLEASE send your student with appropriate coats, hats, gloves, and boots! The temperature can be especially cold for morning recess. Thank you!

     Sight Words

If the sight word has the heart above it, the word cannot be sounded out. Certain sounds do not follow the rules. For example: in the word "of," the "o" and the "f" are not using their phonetic sound. Please do not have your student sound these words out. These are words that students need to know by heart.

    Volunteer Hours Log

The Volunteer Hours Log is now available for use!  Please go to the "Volunteer" icon in the upper right corner of the home page or the PTO tab of the LA website.  Once you click "LOG HOURS HERE!" you will be asked for a password which is "leopards".  You will then be taken to a Google Doc where you can complete all fields.  And don't forget to click SUBMIT.

We'd prefer that you enter blocks of time, depending on how frequently you're volunteering.  Weekly or monthly blocks of time are fine.

All LA families are encouraged to volunteer 20-hours per school year.  If you need ideas on how to get your hours completed, please read the Lincoln Loop emails sent every Friday, visit the PTO tab or talk with your child's teacher.  Volunteer hours ensure our charter is renewed each year so please make sure to do your part!

    Thank you, LA PTO
