In writing this week, we are implementing the four steps of the writing process: plan, draft, revise and share. We will use this process to write a sentence about something people wouldn’t know about us just by looking at our outer appearance. We will read the story Let’s Talk About Race by Julius Lester to guide our thought processes. We will also be learning about Jackie Robinson and Ruby Bridges.
In math this week, we are starting our unit on teen numbers 16-19. We are focusing on representing, making, and decomposing the numbers 16, 17, 18, and 19.
In Core Knowledge this week, we are learning all about animals and their needs. We will be exploring the differences between wild animals, pets, and people as well as how their needs are similar or different. We will learn the Core Knowledge phrase “The early bird catches the worm.”
In Second Step, our fourth unit is on problem-solving. This week, students will be able to demonstrate apologizing as a problem-solving strategy in a given scenario.
