In reading this week, we are:

• Blending final sounds to make words

• Segmenting and deleting phonemes in words

• Attaching the /n/ sound to the letter Nn

• Attaching the /l/ sound to the letter Ll

• Identifying initial and final /n/ and /l/

• Learning the elements of a poem

• Predicting and confirming predictions

Writing:

In writing this week, we are implementing the four steps of the writing process: plan, draft, revise and share. We will use this process to write a sentence about our families. 

Math:

In math this week, we are continuing our unit on 2-Dimensional shapes. We are identifying distinguishing attributes of triangles, rectangles, squares, circles and hexagons.

Core Knowledge:

In Core Knowledge this week, we are reading the story of Winnie the Pooh, learning about the legend of Casey Jones and distinguishing between wants and needs.

Social-Emotional Learning:

In Second Step, our third unit is on empathy and kindness. This week, students will be able to give at least one reason why they think kind acts are important.
